Oushak rugs are believed to have been produced by hand since the early days of the Ottoman Empire. The distinct star and medallion pattern, large knot size, and wool warp and weft are all notable features of rugs from the city after which they were named. In addition, the spicy rich palette of cinnamon and saffron, mixed in with gold and ivory, as well as terracotta tints, were woven together to create an identity uniquely associated with this ancient city. More recently, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Oushak rugs started to be commercially produced, incorporating floral patterns and larger sizes to accommodate the dictates of European tastes at the time. Turkish rugs that cannot be attributed to Oushak are often referred to as Anatolian, derived from a word meaning "land of the rising sun".

We are always happy to collaborate with you on a custom carpet that meets all your specifications...and your wildest dreams! Of course, it will be woven on our very own looms with the best materials under the supervision of our experts.
