Unlike weavers in other parts of India who developed their distinctive Persian-influenced styles many centuries earlier, the weavers of Amritsar in northwest India came into their own aesthetic in the 1800s, largely under western influence as a result of British colonialism. Specifically, the Great Exhibition in the Crystal Palace in 1851 introduced the public to Oriental artwork and triggered demand for exotic goods. The high quality of Amritsar carpets, and their choice of floral designs and earthy colors were specifically tailored to western taste. Even today, Amritsar carpets are admired by experts, art historians, and the public alike, for their quality, design, and color.

We are always happy to collaborate with you on a custom carpet that meets all your specifications...and your wildest dreams! Of course, it will be woven on our very own looms with the best materials under the supervision of our experts.
